This year has been a blast! We placed around 30 murals throughout the entire Benelux, worked with more than 50 artists and even hosted a street art festival. Various organisations and companies asked us to give their buildings and spaces - the ones that previously were an eyesore - a new look and feel. After a complete transformation these walls now create a pleasant atmosphere for visitors, employees and passers-by.
We are looking forward to what the coming year has in store for us, but first we take you back to the highlights of the past months.
First up is the renovation of a bikers and pedestrian tunnel for the city of Eindhoven (The Netherlands). Based on the Greek epos of Aeneas and his mother Aphrodite infused with some references to modern day transport, the artistic duo Hoodo (RU) painted for 14 days straight to give this neighborhood a new open air gallery.
Our busy bee of the season: A street art festival with a 3D theme in the port of Antwerp. Eleven street artists took over 't Eilandje (the port district) and created 18 artworks in the most interesting locations. As a cherry on the pie we invited Gooze from Russia and painted an iconic mural that can be seen from pretty much everywhere in the port.
And to top it off, we took matters into our own hands by painting a 650 square meter brick surface of an event center named 'the Limburghal' in Genk (Belgium). With references to the building's musical past, the architecture and green scenery of the city, and even a hint of history, our artists sprayed away almost 600 cans.
Together with a city, we invite local and professional artists, kids and other participants to refresh their own neighborhood by painting electricity cabinets. Starting from a pre-specified theme, the artists create their designs and go out and about to paint their creations on the street. For the newcomers we always host one or two workshops to get to know more about techniques with markers, spray paint and acrylics.
