Tanini is an Albanian artist, poet, green activist, journalist and essayist. He studied painting at the Lyceum “Jordan Misja”, and graduated in Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Tirana. He is a man who loves nature, trees and the color yellow. For this reason, he also loves to ride his bike. As the artist describes: “my origin is from everywhere, and I’m born in a year with numbers”. Every once in a while he donates blood, as a sign of delivering life particles to those in need.
After working for a period as a journalist for various radio and television channels, he now moves around as a freelancer and writes for a handful of newspapers and magazines. He is also active on social media and runs his own blog “Letra nga Republika e Shkarravinave” (Letters from the Republic of Scribblings). Next to that he puts in amazing effort to preserve nature and created the “Plant your own tree” initiative together with his friends. In less than two years, more than 11 000 trees have been planted all over Albania!
It almost seems that making art is a hobby for this artist, but nothing is less true. Most of his days he is partaking in negotiations with local governments to bring more color to the streets. From painting small interventions with local artist to wrapping gigantic buildings and structures in a layer of paint, he is constantly ‘creating’ and working on the evolution of his personal style.
Your building would look a lot better with the art of Eljan Tanini on there!
