A bee-friendly mural in Leuven!
Bare walls in the spotlight once again with a work by street artist Tuzq! This time, we worked on a mural next to the Community Centre in the Mannenstraat district, near the Leuven Ring Road.
The project came about at the request of the managers and visitors to the neighbourhood centre. They submitted a file to "Kom op voor je wijk" - a neighbourhood upgrading project by the City of Leuven - requesting that one of their façades be brightened up.
In the context of the nearby bee-friendly gardens, two designs were made, from which the neighbourhood and local residents could vote via flyers and online channels. This resulted in the beautiful picture of a bee looking for nectar, which now adorns the Mgr. van Waeyenberghlaan in the direction of UZ Gasthuisberg.
During the works, many enthusiasts and passers-by gave it a thumbs up, but it remains to be seen whether the bees will also find this wall more attractive. We are patiently waiting for the first rays of spring sunshine.
