Portraits of famous local artists
Tour Elentrik is a street art project in which utility boxes are given a fresh coat of paint. A unique way to brighten up the streetscape!
This time, Klein Antwerpen was tackled, all in cooperation with the district and the neighbourhood association. In previous editions, Wilrijk and the Luchtbal neighbourhood had already been tackled, with very good results as a result. Of course, the centre of our metropolis cannot be left behind. It was soon decided to bring more colour to the streets here as well.
Topic
Tour Elentrik in Klein Antwerpen is part of a very specific theme, being well-known characters and artists who used to live, work and live in Klein Antwerpen. As a tribute, these creative people were given a portrait on various utility poles throughout the district. At 10 different locations, "real" living and contemporary Antwerp painters, street artists and artists set to work in the neighbourhood between Van Eycklei, Mechelsesteenweg and Belgiëlei. They provided their own interpretation of a portrait of famous Klein-Antwerp citizens such as Wannes van de Velde, Paul van Ostaijen, Leo Bervoets and countless others.
