Larsen Bervoets (Antwerp, 1979) is a multi-disciplinary and experimental artist. Over the course of his career he created various indoor and outdoor murals, worked on canvas, panels, fabricated his own sculptures, installations, and furniture. He is fascinated by the interaction of colour and space, combined with perspective, the human point of view and natural lighting versus shadow play. You will often see him creating small interventions in the strangest locations or making study models out of plain cardboard in his workshop.
The works he lets out to the public (in the form of murals or canvas) are characterized by tight geometric compositions with lines, surfaces, shadow and graphic elements that give an impression of ‘a space’. These creations are often complemented with colours and colour patterns in order to create an illusion of an extra dimension on a flat surface.
2D or not 2D, that’s the question.
