Steve Locatelli is one of the bigger names in the Belgian street art and graffiti scene. He has proven himself to be an expert in the field of hyperrealism and abstract art. He was one of the first to be found spraying his way into the Brussels metro system in the early nineties. Just before the new millenium, he let his fantasy run wild and developed his own style. It was only years later that he focused on creating skulls. It might seem a boring subject at first, but the message behind it explains more: “I like the symbolism of skulls. It’s so universal that you almost can’t see if it’s a man or woman, a white, African or Asian person. We’re all the same under it all!” In the mean time Locatelli managed to work himself up in the world of street art, with murals in Brussels, Amsterdam, and other cities throughout Europe. He spends most of his time in Artifex, his own gallery in Antwerp.
