CAUSA PRIMA - ULB BRUSSELS
In May ‘17 the city of Brussels hosted an open call, with the goal of creating a pleasant atmosphere for the old and dirty façade of the University Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). We invited various European artists to create a design, and out of +/- 80 candidates, Italian artist Gola Hundun won with his design “Causa Prima”.
Gola’s artwork is usually inspired by elements such as nature and spirituality. For this project he uses a representation of ‘the stream of life’. A reference to the educational purposes that make a human being grow and develop, and all the activity going on around campus. The orange-red sun is the perfect center of the building's corner, projected as an interesting ‘anamorphism’. All the leaves pictured in the design flow around the sun, the center point.
As this was our first large scale project, you can imagine it was quite a challenge to fulfill all the wishes of our client, the city and all other participants. But by putting all heads and hands together we got stuff done. After gallons of blood, sweat, primer, paint, rain and a tear or two, it was finally done. We will save you all the details because the result is simply stunning!
About the artist
Universite Libre de Bruxelles is situated at Paul Hegerlaan 1, Brussels, BE.
We couldn’t have done this project without Gola Hundun (the artist), Jaune (our friend in need and a serious artist indeed), Pieter ‘Nekvel’ Verbeke (our assistant) and the three-headed team of Oryzon Film makers.
